It was recorded in 1988 that 75-80% of the country's students in biology dissect frogs. Until recently dissection of animals in biology classrooms was an expected experience. Resistance to animal dissection grew during the past decade. There has been a steady decline in dissection, being characterized as a political and ideological issue.
I am a hands on learner. I learn best when doing hands on projects, however; I would personally be against the dissection of animals especially pigs. My faith considers pigs to be an unclean animal, so I understand why for some people why their religion would prevent them from doing such things. Virtual dissection provides an alternative for those who may not have stomach to dissect an animal, or who's religion prevents it.
I do believe that there has been a lot of good things that has come from dissection of animals. I believe without the dissection of animals it would be impossible to have a virtual simulation alternative to dissection. Though I am against dissection of animals for personal reasons. I believe that dissection should still be allowed in schools for those who would not mind the experience. I also believe that their should be a virtual alternative offered.

Information gathered during research
Benefit those going into surgical field
Encouraging to those deciding on a career
Cons: The smell of the animals

Cause bad grades
Animal cruelty issues
