     Carotid artery disease is a medical condition that affects the blood supply in the brain from a damaged artery that carry oxygen rich blood. The plaque that builds up on the artery making it narrow ans stiff which is what causes the inflammation and the disease to occur. Carotid is normally diagnosed after a stroke and it can affect anyone that is not taking care of their health. The symptoms for Carotid is shortness of breath, drooping on one side of face , slurred/garbles speech and more. Carotid is dangerous and can cause lots of medical problems. 

     There are many ways to prevent Carotid disease specially as time age. The most common cause of Carotid disease is so to start with ways to prevent a stroke.The procedure being risky most doctors would only operate on some one who has a stenosis over 50 percent. For the last 30 years the treatment includes a catheter to open the artery that is blocked. But now there are medication that are prescribed that can help drain the clogged artery. The treatment depends on the narrowing of the artery and the age of the patient to help with the fitting of what treatment would be best.                                                                                                 

 

Carotid is not shy to the medical field, it is often too known causing more than Carotid is one of the most common cause of a stroke. In 2015, there were 7 to 10 percent of ischemic stokes just in the united states. This disease is a highly performed surgery that can be life changing, as of today doctors are recommend this procedure.
