Lab 13: Biotechnology and the future

Biotechnology has pretty much been around since humans started making discoveries. The ability to keep our water clean, food healthy, and our bodies healthy are all ways it impacts us daily. Though there are some negative side effects too, like pollution, greenhouse gasses and general depletion of resources. Scientist hope to use technology to improve on its weak-points and illuminate some of the ill side-effects its created.

In the present I think biotechnology has impacted my life pretty positively; we live in a generation with health (minus the literal current situation cause this is a mess); we are attempting to reverse the footprint we created on the planet; we have the ability to use have some of the best medicines in history. Life on earth is an ever-changing continuous cycle, we have only been here a small portion of the time the earth has existed and we have created devastation on a global scale, and are seeing mass extinction.

With advancements in biotechnology I hope to see a greener future. I think we can use our abilities for greater good instead of greed (but I am considerably naive). With taking bigger steps in creating more renewable resources, sea water research, and plant research I think that we can lesson our carbon footprint and create a better earth. Though if we keep burning down rain forests, denying science, and going the inexpensive for more route we will see a destruction of earth.
