Biotechnology is the manipulation of biological processes with technology. “Biotechnology will become as common as having a cellphone or going online. There is going to be an even larger number of biotech companies, both big and small” (Lee, 2016). Biotechnology has the capability to influence the lives of almost everyone on the planet. Personally, biotechnology can influence my life in so many ways. I recently started eating healthy, so I opt for healthier foods. Surprisingly, biotechnology plays a huge role in making these foods available. For example, canola, soybeans and sunflower have been manipulated by technology resulting in the creation of healthier oils which I then use to cook. In the future I believe biotechnology would allow more food to be manipulated into being healthy.
Next, biotechnology has made it possible for toxins to be broken down and for diseases to be controlled in agriculture and for medications to be created. In the future, I see more cures or diseases being created which is great because it means that even though one develops an ailment, there would be a cure or it and there will be more agriculture availability because more cures for diseases that affect plant will be created.
