How Biotechnology will impact my life in the future?

by

Sarah Zambrano

“This is a whole new era where we’re moving beyond little edits on single genes to being able to write whatever we want throughout the genome.”

-George Church, Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School

I believe that Biotechnology will greatly impact my life in the future. As Professor Church says in the quote above, the more research and experimentation that is done with genes, the more possibilities there will be to rewrite whatever we want on the human genome. I think there is tremendous hope and promise in the possibility of being able to cure cancer or other diseases, including genetic diseases or abnormalities. I also hope that biotechnology will make genetic testing more accessible and less expensive so that people can have better access to information about their health and their children's health, as well as be able to afford these potential therapies.
