Lab 12:  Gametogenesis

The article from what I could grasp discussed two forms of cloning; therapeutic stem cell and nuclear cloning. Therapeutic Stem Cell transplantation is to help with diseases, or other genetic disorders. Nuclear Cell Transplantation is the removable of the nucleus from one cell and then putting it into fetal cell from insemination. Both on their own don't work as well as it could. Therapeutic is leading in the amount of success though the body's immune system will try to fend off the cell. These experiments are better done in the fetal stages.

The combination of the two, the article states, is a goal of the research. The article heavily talks about the fact that this research could cure ailments, and genetic disorders, but it also holds possibility to bring back extinct species. When I read this article I really did understand the science lingo, this is definitely not my forte. I asked my boyfriend what he thought of cloning and he said; "its tight, don't you want mammoths back?" I do contemplate whether or not I want mammoths back but I guess I never what I thought of cloning as an answer.

Science is and ever-growing field to understand things people like me can't wrap my mind around. With the use of stem cell research, and DNA transplantation gives new possibilities to a way of life without some genetic disorders, or with some new plants and animals. I do believe with it will come consequence, it is something I do not understand enough I feel I don't really deserve an opinion on it. I trust science to figure out answer the hard questions so I can google them later. With that being said I appreciate the ability to gain this knowledge. I think that they should continue with the research, but I am wary on the ethics of the whole thing.
