Cure for Cancer

a.) Where would you look specifically to find a cure for cancer?

I would search for information on google that is credible in regard to bone cancers. The websites that I use in my research will end in gov or org because they are known for having information that was obtained through empirical research. I found information about bone cancer on several accredited websites that I have provided in my references section. I would also reach out to organizations such as the Mayo Clinic and the American Cancer Society to gain information about the actions in regard to bone cancer and any research.

b.) How would you go about finding a cure (Layout your detailed plan)?

Me and my team of doctors will study the statistics in regard to the portion of the population that has been diagnosed with bone cancer. Then I will look at the survival rates for those that have been diagnosed with bone cancer. I learned that once the cancer has spread to surrounding tissues and organs -lymph nodes the survival rate is at 64% this means I need to find treatment and act fast. We will conduct imaging tests that will help locate and measure the bone tumors and there we will find out if it has spread to other areas in the body. The tests that me and team will conduct include bone scans, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, position emission tomography, and x-rays. We will encourage our patients to authorize a biopsy to remove some tissue from the tumor. By doing this we will be able to read if it is growing quickly or slowly. This is done by inserting a needle through the skin then into the tumor or surgery to access a tissue sample. Since MicroRNA are found in chondrosarcomas, discovering new drugs will help target the genes.

c.) Integrate two scientific references that you researched that support your plan. Include a statement for each in your writing.

The American Cancer Society has gained traction in their research about bone tumors. For example, changes to the T gene have been found in a few families where more than one member has a chordoma. This might help doctors find specific gene changes that might put a person at higher risk for this type of bone cancer.

MD Anderson’s Sarcoma Center surgeons only treat sarcoma patients and they have a reputation for having a high level of expertise and experience that forms into successful treatments for their patients.
