My Cure for Breast Cancer

By.Brittany List

Something that is very important to consider here, is that there are hundreds of different types of cancer. Not a single type is the same. Not only does each type have to be looked at differently, but each type also responds differently to types of medicines, treatments, and the individual's genetic makeup. Also, cancer cells constantly change, mutate, and become resistant to treatment. Which makes "a cure" much harder to come by. When it comes to treatment or a cure, it will never be a one size fits all approach. Each person would have to be looked at individually. For these reasons I will be focusing solely on breast cancer.

Breast cancer - Symptoms and causes - Mayo Clinic

Breast cancer can occur in both men and women but it is most common in women. Breast cancer occurs when breast cells start to form abnormally and more rapidly, which forms a lump on the breast. Researchers aren't quite sure why breast cancer happens to some and not to others, but there does seem to be some genetic and environmental components. For example, if breast cancer runs in your family you are more likely to also get it. Also, if you are obese, inactive, and have poor diet and over the age of 55 you are more at risk.

Right now the most common forms of treatment are surgery to remove the cancer, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and radiation. Treatment can prove to be very effective in removing the cancer and preventing it from coming back. Furthermore, a person in the early stages, Stage 1, CAN be cured of breast cancer with a 5 year survival rate of 99%.

The best 'cure' for breast cancer is simply preventative care. Which means a healthy diet, an active lifestyle, getting yearly mammogram screenings, and avoiding stress. It is vital not to underestimate the ability of a healthy lifestyle to prevent cancer. If cancer already exists within the body, a healthy lifestyle is still important to maintain as well as following whatever treatment plan your doctor advises.
