COVID 19
COVID 19 is a variation of the human coronavirus. There is an incubation period of 1-14 days before the individual shows symptoms. (On average of 5-6 days). Most exposed individuals have mild symptoms, do not require medical treatment and will recover. The most common symptoms of COVID 19 are dry cough, tiredness and fever. In more serious cases individuals have reported shortness of breath. Individuals that are over 60 years of age or who have an underlying medical condition such as; cancer, diabetes, heart disease and asthma are more vulnerable to becoming seriously ill and will require special treatments like ventilators and may need to be intubated so they can breath and start the recovering process. In these cases getting COVID 19 can be fatal. COVID 19 is a new coronavirus and there is currently no cure or vaccine available to treat and prevent the virus. Ways to prevent COVID 19 is to wash your hands often and for 20 seconds each time in a heavy lather of soap and hot water, sanitize in between washes with sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol to kill the virus, cough into your elbow or a tissue then throw away followed by proper hand washing or approved sanitizer, do not touch your face, stay at least 6 feet away from other individuals and stay home as much as you can to help stop the spread of the virus. If you have the coronavirus and have mild symptoms you can stay at home and self treat by keeping warm, drinking plenty of liquids to stay hydrated, get plenty of rest and use a humidifier to help ease a sore throat and cough.
