Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of the most known diseases. Duchenne affects the muscular system causing the muscle to become weak over a progression of time. Like any other diseases, it comes with symptoms, for Duchenne it includes; falling, big calves, trouble getting up and even as extreme learning disabilities. Are you wondering how can you get this disease? this is possible if your gene that is makinmg a protein becomes defective.  There is no cure for this disease but treatment is provided to help such as physical therapy and often cases corticosteriods can help the pain. . If the disease is caught too late then it can last for years and soon become deadly. This disease is very rare and its less than 200,000 cases per year in the United States. Duchenne is found to be more common for males but not shy to females at a mildly condition. DMD usually happens before birth and it is hereditary. More than 90 percent were in a wheelchair by the age of 15.
