Page history last edited by Taricka 4 years, 2 months ago

Mitosome is an organelle found in eukaryotic organisms. The organelle was found in 1999 and still today the function are unknown. Mitosome is often compared to Mitochondria, having some similarities like having a double membrane. What makes them different is Mitosome does not have any genes and does not show any proteins. The organelle is usually found in organisms that do not have mitochondria in them. Mitosome does not contain DNA and cant produce ATP.

There is not a lot of information on mitosome but from what research shows, Mitosome is known to play a small role in Iron-sulfur protein(Fe-S) as providing synthesis to the organsims. It has detected

The organisms is not capable to gain energy in oxidatives like mitochondria can.
