COVID 19 KM

Page history last edited by Kelsey Messerole 4 years ago

There are different types of coronaviruses apart from the one in the COVID-19 outbreak. Mostly they occur within the animal kingdom, but have been known to jump to humans, too. This has happened 7 times (that are known), one of which is the current world pandemic of COVID-19. The thing that makes it possible for these viruses to jump from animal to human is its genome size. It has the largest of the RNA viruses. It gives it a greater ability to code and change its “settings” so it can jump to people. If a human contracts coronavirus, it results in respiratory issues ranging from mild to moderate. Depending on the factors of the infected (age, health, etc.), it can be anywhere from a slight illness to a severe one, putting them in the hospital or even killing them. Disinfecting and isolating are two ways to prevent getting the virus.
